Sleep Your Way To Greater Health

There exists considerable information to support the reality that the amount of time you sleep could be the most
important predictor associated with how long you will live!

Not surprisingly, I guess that most folks acknowledge that if we don’t get enough sleep for a night or
two, we might not function as effectively the very next day. If we work a job where accuracy is extremely
important, or if we are driving a vehicle a long distance, we sure don’t want to be sleepy. And we might
even understand that satisfactory sleep affects our immune system. With insufficient sleep, we might be
a lot more likely to get sick. However tying the optimum quantity of sleep into various conditions and even
our longevity…well, possibly that’s alternate food for thought!

There is no need to lose substantial amounts of sleep before it takes a toll. One study found that
sleeping fewer than 4 hours every night was linked with a 2.8 times greater rate of mortality for
males and a 1.5 times higher rate for females. “The publisher of this research also found that length of
sleep time was a better forecaster of mortality as compared to cigarette smoking, heart disease, or hypertension.”
An additional study discovered that individuals who slept six hours or less per night had a 70 percent higher
mortality rate over a nine-year period of time compared to those who slept seven to eight hours a night!

Just how much sleep do we need?

* A six to twelve year old will need between 10 and a half and eleven and a half hours
of sleep a night.

* A teen-ager requires rather less sleep, most likely close to 9 or 10 hours a night.

* An adult should be getting seven to Eight hours sleep every night.

Furthermore, it is better for you to sleep at night than during the day time. Actually, sleeping between
the hours of 10 P.M. and 6 A.M. is considered to be ideal. This allows for your body to
recover its required melatonin levels in a natural manner.

So, close your eyes at nighttime to avoid diabetes, to shed pounds, to strengthen your defense mechanisms,
to feel great, and to live longer!
